There is no single safe length of stay for everyone considering stem cell or regenerative medicine care in Thailand. Your diagnosis, the exact proposed procedure, other health conditions and the follow-up plan determine the schedule. Ask for a written provisional itinerary after clinical review.

Build your stay around clinical decisions
| Stage | Question for the treating team |
|---|---|
| Before travel | Can records be reviewed first, and what remains uncertain? |
| Assessment | Which consultations or tests are needed before a decision? |
| Procedure, if appropriate | What must be completed before it can go ahead? |
| Observation and review | Which checks must happen locally, and when? |
| Departure | Who decides when travel is appropriate and provides any required documentation? |
Ask the team to distinguish confirmed dates from estimates. A schedule should explain what could cause delays, such as further assessment or a change in the clinical plan. Avoid treating an advertised package duration as your personalised itinerary.
Check whether flying or a long journey needs to wait
CDC highlights that surgery and air travel can both contribute to blood-clot risk. Return-travel advice must account for the actual procedure and your health. CDC Yellow Book: medical tourism.
Ask the treating clinician about your planned flight, connections and total journey time. If an airline requires a medical form or assistance booking, confirm its rules directly. Do not stop medicines, change doses or start preventive medication solely for a flight without clinical advice.
A clinician may recommend more time nearby even when an appointment itself is brief. Conversely, attending a consultation does not automatically mean you will undergo a procedure. Make the schedule reflect the care actually proposed.
Choose accommodation that supports the plan
- Confirm which facility you will attend and how often you may need to return.
- Consider step-free access, lifts, bathroom access and the distance to appointments.
- Ask whether a companion is advisable and what support they would need to provide.
- Choose booking terms that allow changes if the assessment or departure date changes.
Review our travel and accommodation information and confirm transport arrangements directly. A leisure itinerary should remain secondary to the instructions for your individual care.
Budget for a longer stay and check immigration dates
Ask for the costs of additional reviews, tests and accommodation separately from the original estimate. Clarify who pays if the stay becomes longer or you need care at another facility. Check insurance exclusions and coverage before departure.
Your medical itinerary must also fit your immigration permission. Use the medical visa guide to identify the official checks. A doctor’s suggested recovery period does not automatically extend your permitted stay.
Questions to settle before booking a return ticket
Can I fly home on the day of an appointment?
Do not assume that you can. Explain the exact appointment and journey to the clinician and ask for individual advice before booking.
What if the assessment changes the plan?
Ask in advance about postponement, cancellation, extra investigations and the cost of a longer stay. Keep flexible travel options where practical.
Does staying longer guarantee a better result?
No. Time in Thailand should match a justified monitoring and care plan. It does not establish that a proposed intervention will work.
Ask about an assessment
For questions about the review process, availability or a written estimate, message Thailand Stem Cell Clinic. Ask how to share records securely. An enquiry does not confirm eligibility or that a particular treatment is offered.
