A blanket yes-or-no answer about “stem cell therapy” can be misleading. Regulatory status depends on the exact product, its use and the pathway through which treatment is proposed.

What the Thai FDA describes
The Thai FDA identifies cell- and gene-based advanced therapies as products requiring consideration of manufacturing processes and sites as well as product safety and efficacy. Its overview is not a list authorising every advertised cell treatment. Thai FDA: advanced therapy medicinal products.
Ask the provider to state the applicable Thai authorisation or research basis for the exact proposal, and how you can verify it with the relevant authority.
Ask for documents that match the claim
| Document or claim | What to clarify |
|---|---|
| Clinician registration | Who takes professional responsibility? |
| Facility licence | Which premises and activities does it cover? |
| Product authorisation | Which product, indication and conditions of use? |
| Research approval | Which protocol, oversight body and participants? |
| Trial registration | Where are the protocol and results recorded? |
Do not treat these documents as interchangeable. A registered business, laboratory certificate or trial listing does not by itself prove that the proposed use is authorised.
Foreign approval is a separate question
Ask whether an overseas approval concerns the same product and diagnosis, and whether it has any bearing on access in Thailand. A press release about a treatment in another country is not evidence of local permission.
For destination-specific questions, use the country comparison guides. The Thailand regulation overview provides additional context.
What to do if details are unclear
Request the documents and contact the relevant Thai authority or an appropriately qualified adviser before paying. Ask for translated information when needed. Regulatory requirements can change, so confirm the current position for the date and place of the proposed treatment.
Even a lawful pathway does not promise benefit for an individual. Review effectiveness and safety separately.
Common questions
Does trial registration mean the treatment is approved?
No. Registration records a study; it is not a general treatment authorisation.
Does a clinic licence prove every advertised procedure is legal?
It does not answer the product- and use-specific question. Ask which documents cover the exact proposal.
Ask about an assessment
For questions about the review process, availability or a written estimate, message Thailand Stem Cell Clinic. Ask how to share records securely. An enquiry does not confirm eligibility or that a particular treatment is offered.
