There is no universal duration for a stem cell treatment effect. Any estimate should identify the product, condition, outcome and the period over which patients were actually followed.

Three timelines that are often confused
| Timeline | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Procedure and recovery | How long treatment and immediate aftercare take |
| Measured clinical outcome | When researchers assessed symptoms or function |
| Long-term durability | Whether any meaningful benefit persists over time |
Ask which timeline a provider means when describing a result as lasting. The time cells remain detectable is also not the same as the duration of a useful patient outcome.
Read the follow-up carefully
For knee osteoarthritis, the cited Cochrane review discusses outcomes up to six months in its placebo comparison; this should not be converted into a promise of permanent repair. Cochrane: knee osteoarthritis injections, 2025.
Ask how many participants remained at each follow-up and whether other treatment occurred. If only people who felt better returned questionnaires, the later picture may be incomplete. Read the success-rate guide for missing-data questions.
Deciding about another session
A return of symptoms should prompt reassessment. It does not automatically mean that another procedure is appropriate. Ask whether repeat treatment has been studied, what new benefit is expected and what would lead the clinician to stop.
- Is another session part of a tested protocol?
- Was there a meaningful response to the first treatment?
- Have the diagnosis or other treatments changed?
- Are added costs and risks justified?
Plan measurements before treatment
Write down the baseline problem and agree on follow-up dates and measures. Keep track of other care so changes can be interpreted. Ask who reviews the results and how you will decide whether to continue usual care, seek another opinion or change the plan.
Common questions
Can an infusion guarantee years of benefit?
A claim needs evidence for the exact product and condition. A fixed duration cannot be assumed for an individual.
Is annual maintenance always necessary?
No universal schedule applies. A recurring package should not replace clinical reassessment. See the package-cost guide.
Ask about an assessment
For questions about the review process, availability or a written estimate, message Thailand Stem Cell Clinic. Ask how to share records securely. An enquiry does not confirm eligibility or that a particular treatment is offered.
