Protect your existing renal care

Do not cancel dialysis, transplant evaluation or prescribed medicines on the basis of a cell-therapy claim. Ask the kidney team how any proposed assessment or travel would fit around essential care.
What to ask for in the estimate
- Nephrology review and interpretation of kidney function trends
- Tests required by the proposed protocol
- Product, administration and monitoring charges
- Dialysis and regular medicines during travel, where applicable
- Follow-up with a named clinician after returning home
Ask for the currency, quote expiry date, payment schedule and cancellation terms. Separate optional services from required care, and identify what is excluded.
Ask what “improvement” means
Request the exact outcome, time point and supporting study. A single laboratory result may not answer whether an intervention preserves function over time, prevents hospitalisation or changes the need for dialysis. Ask whether patients with your diagnosis and disease stage were actually studied.

Consider the cost of an interrupted plan
If you need scheduled treatment, identify where it will occur before travelling. Ask what happens if the proposed cell treatment is postponed, you are found unsuitable or your medical condition changes. Include the cost of staying longer and communicating records between teams.

Common questions
Can I stop dialysis after an infusion?
Only your nephrology team can decide whether your kidney function allows any change. A promotional claim is not a basis for stopping dialysis.
Is a kidney transplant the same as a stem cell infusion?
No. They are different interventions with different purposes, eligibility assessments and care requirements.
